Laundry Chemicals Market To Reach $22.08 Billion by 2034

The industry is entering a new phase in which formulation performance, sustainability and resource efficiency are becoming differentiators.

Laundry chemicals have traditionally been viewed as a high-volume, relatively mature category. That assumption is increasingly outdated.

The industry is entering a new phase in which formulation performance, sustainability, automation and resource efficiency are becoming critical competitive differentiators.

According to Polaris Market Research, the global laundry chemicals market was valued at $13.10 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $22.08 billion by 2034.

The bigger story, however, is not simply market expansion. It is the changing definition of value in laundry chemistry, according to the report.

For manufacturers, the strategic question is no longer just how to produce more detergent. Customers increasingly want formulations that deliver stronger cleaning performance while using less water, lower chemical volumes, reduced packaging and fewer resources.

For commercial laundries, hotels, hospitals and industrial users, a formulation that reduces dosing requirements or washing cycles can generate tangible operating savings. That makes performance chemistry a business proposition—not merely a product feature.

Also, sustainable and biodegradable laundry chemicals are positioned for growth, said the report.
